This classic comfort food is the perfect pick-me-up when you’re feeling hungry. With just a few ingredients, you can create a golden brown and cheesy sandwich that’s sure to hit the spot.
I like to use gluten free bread but any good-quality bread works great, so pick your favorite, whether it’s sourdough, wheat, gluten free or white.
I love using ghee in my grilled cheese because it has a rich, nutty taste and when something is cooked in this clarified butter, that flavor is transferred to it 🙂
Ghee also can be used as a butter substitute for people who are lactose intolerant or where you want a nuttier flavor.
Ingredients:
• Bread
• Ghee
• 2-4 slices cheddar cheese
Directions:
1 – Take two slices of bread, and, using a butter knife, spread ghee evelnly on the outside of the bread.
2 – Place the buttered side of one piece of bread in non-stick pan over medium heat. Add 2-4 slices of cheese. Then, take the other piece of bread and spread butter one the side that will be facing up in the pan.
3 – Once the bread has lightly toasted, use a spatula to carefully flip the sandwich. The second side will also need to be lightly toasted. Make sure to watch the hea and adjust it accordingly.
4 – Once both sides have lightly toasted, remove the sandwich from the pan using a spatula.
This delicious grilled cheese can be paired with a warm tomato soup or a creamy butternut squash soup.
